Mission Statement
The Technology Standards and Solutions Committee includes member volunteers from a variety of aftermarket industry segments who meet to develop computer standards and best business practices in the area of electronic commerce and data exchange. The committee's objective is to be responsive to member needs and effect a lower cost of doing business and increased efficiencies.
AAIA Technology Standards and Solutions
ACES – The AAIA Catalog Enhanced Standard is the aftermarket industry standard for the coding and exchange of electronic application catalog information.
PIES – The aftermarket Product Information Exchange Standard is the industry best practice for the management and exchange of product attribute and supply chain information.
IPO – The Internet Parts Ordering standard defines an XML Web Service for transacting Special Order purchase transactions.
Imaging – The Aftermarket Imaging Best Practices define the industry standard for the capture, management and exchange of product images in the supply chain.
i•SHOP – The Shop Connectivity Standard is a specification for the interoperability of shop equipment, systems and information servers.
PARTnerShip Network – a software solution for peer-to-peer exchange of documents and e-commerce transactions over the public Internet without per-character or usage fees.
Category Management – a collaborative industry initiative in the aftermarket supply chain to share point-of-sale information in order to operate more efficiently and profitably.
Sales Information Standard – a specification for the efficient exchange of Sales and Commissions data from aftermarket suppliers to the Sales Agencies they employ to service and manage their customers.
AAIA Standards and Technology Resources
Technology White Papers and Articles – AAIA publishes feature articles and a regular column in the Aftermarket Insider magazine that present technology and eCommerce in plain language and “byte-sized pieces”.
Aftermarket Council on Electronic Commerce (ACEC) – The role of the ACEC is to coordinate and communicate the standards-setting efforts of multiple associations in the vehicle aftermarket and provide a centralized source of information.
Committee and Liaison
Committees meet two times a year for association planning purposes. Opportunities exist to become involved in the leadership of the association through serving as volunteers on committees. Each year committee rosters are reviewed and candidates are nominated. Individuals interested in serving on an AAIA committee must send a letter of interest and a bio to AAIA Chair, c/o Dedra Selby at dedra.selby@aftermarket.org.
