AAIA serves the needs of its members as defined by these seven centers of member services:
Business Development AAIA publications, services, conferences and trade events help members grow their businesses and shrink their costs.
Market Research AAIA's market research team of experts provides in-depth analyses on trends and issues facing the automotive aftermarket. Products available include studies of various domestic and international markets, consumer surveys, an annually updated aftermarket factbook, and research on the major segments of U.S. aftermarket.
Information AAIA communicates regularly to and on behalf of its members via print, fax and e-mail. Several newsletters, a magazine and the Web site deliver industry and association news and information to members. Through public and media relations, AAIA serves as the voice of the automotive aftermarket to the industry and the motoring public.
Education Knowledge is the key to success, and AAIA provides members with numerous opportunities to improve their business by learning from and networking with the industry's most distinguished leaders. AAIA, in cooperation with the University of the Aftermarket, provides members with outstanding educational seminars and training programs. These programs help retailers, manufacturers, reps, program groups and distributors build skills to solve today's aftermarket business problems.
Government Affairs AAIA is recognized as an industry leader in supporting and defending aftermarket legislative and regulatory interest in Washington, D.C. and in state legislatures across the country. It also is one of the most respected sources of thorough, accurate information regarding activities, trends, and statistics in the motor vehicle aftermarket. By itself, or as a member of one of numerous industry coalitions, AAIA has a hand in shaping legislation and regulations.
International Services The Export Trade Certificate of Review, AAIA-sponsored trade show pavilions, Equip'Auto, AutoMechanika, and AAIA's Office in Mexico are some of the ways the association helps member companies expand into international markets.
Electronic Commerce AAIA has established electronic catalog standards to provide automotive suppliers with an industry-standard format for exchanging vehicle-specific catalog applications with electronic catalog companies and retailers. Various e-commerce workgroups such as PIES and the Heavy Duty Exchange supplement these efforts. AAIA also sponsors the i·SHOP task force, which is writing computer specifications to enable customer, parts, service and repair information to be exchanged freely between PC-based shop equipment.
Trade Shows and Conferences AAIA sponsors various trade shows and segment-specific conferences. These events offer educational seminars, one-on-one conferences and networking receptions to help members develop their businesses. The Automotive Aftermarket Products Expo (AAPEX), sponsored by AAIA and MEMA, is the premier annual event for all segments of the industry.
